| MYTHS & FACTS |
Myth:
Cannabis hasn't any medicinal value.
FACT:
Cannabis reduces nausea, intra ocular pressure from glaucoma, muscle
spastisity and depression. It also stimulates appetite and healing.
Myth:
Marijuana is addictive.
FACT:
Cannabis does not cause physical dependence. Heavy and frequent
users stop (like when vacationing in the U.S.A.) without trouble.
Myth:
Marijuana is a gateway drug.
FACT:
Cannabis is the most popular drug among North Americans ( if not
the globe), therefore, if people use any other drug they are most
likely to have tried cannabis. It is the individual's personality
that causes experimenting with mood altering substances, not the
substance. Most cannabis users never use anything else, being the
terminus drug, not the gateway.
Myth:
Marijuana causes crime.
FACT:
Every serious scholarly or government study concludes the same way:
cannabis does not cause crime (other than being used / possessed).
If cannabis users commit crime it is often alcohol that plays the
role, cocaine as well. Cannabis reduces aggression rather than increases
it.
Myth:
Marijuana is more potent today.
FACT:
In the 1970's, Authorities just happened to seize low-grade samples
on which to base their "studies". The samples were not
representative of types normally ingested. When users do get a better
variety, they typically ingest less per dose.
